About the Role
At CIBC, we are dedicated to building a relationship-oriented bank for the modern world, focusing on doing what’s right for our clients. We value talented, passionate professionals who are empowered to make a meaningful impact. As an Associate Financial Advisor, you will contribute to this mission by understanding and addressing the financial needs of our clients.
As a key member of the Personal and Business Banking team in Westbank, BC, you will work in a dynamic banking centre environment. Your primary goal will be to form a deep understanding of your personal and small business clients’ needs, enabling you to recommend simple, personalized banking and financial solutions that help them achieve their goals. You will also manage a portfolio of mortgage clients, either individually or as part of a team, with a focus on deepening client relationships.
What You'll Do
In this Associate Financial Advisor role, you will be instrumental in guiding clients through their financial journeys. Your responsibilities will include:
- Client engagement: Meet with clients to understand their personal and business priorities, advise them on solutions, and provide a forward-looking financial plan. Ensure clients’ investment, financial, and credit-related needs are met by providing comprehensive retail banking offers or by making formal introductions to appropriate Imperial Service and Business Banking colleagues.
- Relationship building: Engage in marketing and outreach activities to show clients you value them and their communities. Grow your network, deepen existing relationships, and work as one team to ensure clients are connected to the right people and opportunities.
- Business development: Create relationships by networking with clients’ families and friends to uncover opportunities and refer to appropriate partners. Call both existing and potential clients to identify opportunities for future growth and revenue. Engage in community and banking centre events such as business development events, client acknowledgement programs, and client appreciation day to create and enhance CIBC presence and gain market share.
- Leveraging technology: Become a technology expert and share your knowledge by introducing clients to our mobile banking applications, helping them to better manage their banking needs.
Qualifications
To succeed as an Associate Financial Advisor at CIBC, you should possess a combination of experience, certifications, and personal attributes that align with our client-first approach:
- You can demonstrate 2–3 years of experience in providing financial advice to clients and achieving sales results through advice-based conversations.
- You are a certified professional with current accreditation and good standing in a Mutual Funds License (Canadian Securities Course or Investment Funds in Canada) and must meet eligibility requirements for CIRO-MFD licensing. Current accreditation and good standing in CFSA (Certificate of Financial Services Advice) is considered an asset.
- You put our clients first, engaging with purpose to find the right solutions and going the extra mile.
- You are goal-oriented, motivated by accomplishing your objectives and delivering your best.
- You know that details matter, noticing things others don't, with critical thinking skills informing your decision-making.
- You are passionate about people, finding meaning in relationships and connecting with others through respect and authenticity.
- You love to learn, passionate about growing your knowledge with a strong sense of curiosity.
- You bring your real self to work and live our values: trust, teamwork, and accountability.
