Role Overview
CIBC is building a relationship-oriented bank for the modern world, seeking talented professionals dedicated to clients. At CIBC, we empower our team members to make a meaningful impact, valuing their contributions and fostering an environment where strengths and ambitions are embraced. This commitment extends to our Director, Business Intelligence CIBC jobs in Toronto, where innovation and data drive success.
Reporting to the Senior Director, Business Intelligence, this role is a pivotal leadership position within the Fraud and CAM (Client Account Management) Business Intelligence team. This team delivers strategic initiatives, provides trusted advice to leaders, and drives innovation to improve business results and operational effectiveness. As Director, Business Intelligence, you will provide leadership, guidance, and actionable insights, helping the business make informed decisions and shaping data-driven strategies.
A key aspect of this role involves leading the use of analytics and automation to support the Client Account Management team, internal partners, and external stakeholders. You will develop both short- and long-term plans addressing critical business needs, support the implementation of collections models and strategies, and build robust platforms designed to manage accounts and optimise the risk-reward trade-off. Furthermore, you will advance the use of leading-edge tools and analytical techniques, including artificial intelligence and machine learning, to strengthen business performance and improve outcomes across CIBC.
Key Responsibilities and How You'll Succeed at CIBC
You will monitor and assess champion-challenger and segment performance using a combination of data queries, frontline feedback, and business observations. This includes developing analytical queries to segment clients and support targeted strategies, alongside employing regression analysis and other advanced techniques to identify variables most predictive of successful client contact and desired outcomes.
A core part of your role involves developing a one- to three-year roadmap for business analytics strategies and tools, ensuring seamless alignment with the collections account management approach across various products. You will lead the analysis, modelling, and reporting of Client Account Management performance data to identify opportunities, support continuous improvement, and inform risk strategy design.
You are responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and clear interpretation of all analytical output delivered by your team. You will continuously improve collections strategies through in-depth analysis of client behaviour data and by applying advanced statistical and data mining techniques, including the strategic use of artificial intelligence and machine learning where appropriate.
Leadership and team development are paramount. You will build team capabilities that strengthen CIBC's ability to manage collections risk and optimise returns through sophisticated analytics. This involves fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment, inspiring strong performance through leadership and role modelling, and aligning talent to business priorities through effective hiring and development.
You will build and maintain strong cross-functional relationships across CIBC to support the effective design and delivery of reporting, analytics tools, and strategies. Providing collections and credit risk expertise to internal and external partners, you will deliver clear, strategic recommendations to business leaders and executives.
Maintaining industry awareness is crucial. You will stay current on leading risk management tools, practices, and market trends by building productive relationships with industry vendors and continuously monitoring evolving analytics capabilities.
