About the role

As a Sr. Consultant, Back End Developer at CIBC, you will be a key member of the Shared Platform Technology team, driving the bank's digital transformation. This pivotal role involves successfully delivering complex, enterprise-scale cloud-based applications that interact with multiple back-end systems. You will be instrumental in building, implementing, and maintaining flexible, modular solutions that significantly enhance the client experience across various lines of business, utilizing both Java and GoLang.

You will also contribute to the planning and strategy for the technical design, development, and integration of these critical applications. CIBC supports an optimal work environment, offering a hybrid work arrangement where you will spend 1-3 days per week on-site, with the flexibility to work remotely on other days.

You will play a vital part in reviewing, analyzing, and modifying programming systems, including encoding, testing, and debugging, to ensure robust and efficient operations. • Develop code and test computer programs for straightforward assignments.
• Review, analyze, and modify programming systems, including encoding, testing, and debugging.
• Participate in the technical design, development, and integration of cross-functional, multi-platform application systems.
• Effectively interact with team members, end users, business analysts, and technical resources to gather requirements and prepare design specifications as instructed by senior team members.

What you'll bring

To succeed as a Senior Back End Developer, you will demonstrate at least 10 years of experience in the field. Strong Java (Java EE/Java SE) development ability is required, and good knowledge of GoLang is considered a significant asset. Ideally, you are familiar with containerization technologies like Docker, Azure Cloud Services (including Azure SQL, Databricks, ADLS, Event Hub, ADF), PostgreSQL, and Kubernetes (or Red Hat OpenShift). Experience with Web Services/API, Web Security, Networking, and Unix environments is also highly valued. This role extends beyond hands-on coding, as you will also function as a subject matter expert (SME) to other developers, guiding and mentoring team members.
