Key Responsibilities and Qualifications
The Utility (Yards) will be responsible for performing various janitorial activities associated with the operation and maintenance of all assigned buildings. This includes routine tasks such as sweeping, vacuuming, and mopping floors, as well as essential outdoor duties like snow removal, salting, and sanding walkways. The role also requires the emptying of recycling and garbage receptacles, servicing washroom facilities, and, as required, dusting and general cleaning. Beyond daily upkeep, this position monitors the usage of supplies and orders new supplies as required to ensure continuous operation. Routine pick-up and deliveries are also an assigned duty, contributing to the logistical support of the department.
Furthermore, the Utility (Yards) assists with various activities related to the operation, maintenance, and preservation of assigned buildings and facilities, including routine preventative maintenance activities. The ability to operate a forklift and other equipment as required is a key aspect of the role. Assistance with the set-up and take-down of various meeting and training rooms is also an assigned task. Maintaining daily work activity records for the Work Management System is required to ensure accurate tracking and reporting. Providing customer-oriented service to all Support Services clients is paramount, demonstrating a commitment to effective working relationships.
Candidates for this role must possess a Grade 12 education and have two years’ experience in a variety of Roadways, Fleet & Support activities. Successful completion of a recognized ATV / UTV safety training program is required, along with possession of a valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Driver’s Licence and a current driver’s abstract from SGI demonstrating a safe driving record. The ability to obtain a valid recognized first aid certificate is also necessary. Applicants should demonstrate the ability to regularly and consistently attend work, follow all applicable procedures and policies, and work with minimal supervision.
