About the Role

The City of Saskatoon is seeking a dedicated Land Development Coordinator to join its Transportation and Construction division. This temporary, full-time administration role, available for approximately 24 months, is crucial for the day-to-day operation and administration of activities within the Land Development Section. Key Duties

As a Land Development Coordinator, you will be instrumental in managing various aspects of the land development process, ensuring smooth coordination and adherence to city policies. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning, organizing, directing, monitoring, and controlling diverse activities in the administration of the land development process, while assisting with the development and implementation of related land development policies.
  • Procuring and distributing preliminary design plans and construction drawings pertinent to land development projects, and maintaining effective communications among developers, surveyors, and consulting engineers.
  • Preparing the annual Land Development Business Plan for submission to City Council.
  • Establishing and maintaining liaison between the public, civic departments, and developers regarding the development of land in accordance with Departmental policy and procedures.
  • Organizing and preparing development and servicing agreements, prepaid capital budget submissions, and various other reports required for submission to City Council.
  • Receiving enquiries and applications concerning Subdivision, Discretionary Use, Rezoning, and Development Plans of properties, and coordinating the assessment and response to these enquiries and applications.
  • Assisting with the preparation of the Five Year Land Development Program, including updating the performance of the Land Development Program.
  • Monitoring and evaluating quality control and construction standards to facilitate ongoing analytical programs involving the cost of development servicing, and assisting with the servicing rate setting process.
  • Supervising inspection and support staff, as required.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

To succeed in this Land Development Coordinator role, candidates should possess a strong background in municipal land development and relevant technical knowledge. The City of Saskatoon is looking for individuals who meet the following criteria:

  • A degree in a related field.
  • Four years of progressively responsible experience in the field of municipal land development.
  • Possession of a valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Driver’s Licence.
  • A current driver’s abstract from SGI demonstrating a safe driving record.
  • Knowledge and experience in AutoCAD software is considered an asset.

Additionally, candidates must demonstrate comprehensive knowledge and key abilities, including:

  • Knowledge of the principles, practices, software, equipment, and materials of engineering as applicable to the design, construction, maintenance, and operation of various municipal engineering projects.
  • Knowledge of applicable legislation, regulations, Bylaws, and policies.
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting, budgeting, and financial procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, including the preparation of technical and financial reports.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of civic staff, elected civic officials, and the public.
  • Ability to supervise subordinate staff.
