Your Impact
As a Sessional Lecturer for MAT135H5S LEC101 Differential Calculus at the University of Toronto Mississauga, you will play a pivotal role in educating approximately 140 students. This crucial teaching position involves delivering a comprehensive course covering functions, limits, derivatives, and their applications, providing an engaging learning experience for students pursuing various science disciplines. Your expertise will directly contribute to the academic success and foundational understanding of mathematics for a significant cohort of University of Toronto students.
Key duties for this sessional role include:
- Planning lectures, tutorials, assignments, and tests, including marking schemes.
- Providing appropriate contact time outside of class to students through office hours, emails, and other channels.
- Invigilating the final exam for the course unit.
- Managing all student grades and submitting the final course grades.
- Dealing with student petitions and, if required, setting and grading a make-up exam.
Requirements

Perks and Benefits
This sessional lecturer position is compensated according to the CUPE minimum salary rates for a full course equivalent (FCE), inclusive of vacation pay. The specific rate will depend on your Sessional Lecturer rank, as outlined in the collective agreement. The current rates range from $19,994.95 for Sessional Lecturer I to $22,457.80 for Sessional Lecturer III Long Term. Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from those stated in this posting, the rates in the collective agreement shall prevail.
This job is posted in accordance with the CUPE 3902 Unit 3 Collective Agreement, which governs the terms and conditions of employment for sessional instructors. Preference in hiring is given to qualified individuals advanced to the rank of Sessional Lecturer II or Sessional Lecturer III, in accordance with Article 14:12 of the CUPE 3902 Unit 3 collective agreement. Undergraduate or graduate students and postdoctoral fellows of the University of Toronto are covered by the CUPE 3902 Unit 1 collective agreement and should not apply for positions posted under Unit 3.
