Sessional Lecturer - Integral Calculus - UofT Mississauga

What you'll do

As a Sessional Lecturer for MAT136H5S LEC103 Integral Calculus at the University of Toronto Mississauga, you will be instrumental in delivering a comprehensive university credit course to an estimated 140 students. This role encompasses all facets of course management and instruction, ensuring a high-quality learning experience. The course covers antiderivatives, definite integrals, integration techniques, infinite sequences, series, and various applications from the sciences.

• Planning lectures, tutorials, assignments, and tests, including marking schemes.
• Providing appropriate contact time to students outside of class, through office hours and emails.
• Invigilating the final exam.
• Managing and submitting final course grades.
• Dealing with student petitions and, if required, setting and grading a make-up exam.

What you'll bring

To excel in this sessional lecturer position, you will possess a strong academic background and a passion for teaching Integral Calculus. The University of Toronto is seeking candidates who can demonstrate both deep subject matter expertise and effective communication skills to engage students in this foundational course.

• Ph.D. in Mathematics or a related field, completed or nearly complete.
• Advanced comprehension of the subject matter, as evidenced by research activity and/or advanced teaching experience.
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.

• Demonstrated evidence of excellence in teaching.
• Demonstrable currency and mastery in the field.
