The Opportunity
The Department of Medicine, within the esteemed Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto, in collaboration with the Division of Cardiology at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, is seeking an Academic Cardiac Intensive Care Specialist. This is a full-time academic appointment, offering the successful candidate a position as a Clinician Teacher or Clinician Quality Improvement at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. This role provides an exceptional opportunity to contribute to advanced cardiac medicine and patient care in a leading academic environment in Toronto.
- 50-75% clinical duties, providing specialized cardiac care.
- 25-50% dedicated to teaching, quality improvement initiatives, and/or administrative responsibilities.
Skills and Experience
We are seeking candidates with broad clinical, teaching, and quality improvement experience to join our dynamic department. The successful applicant will demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in cardiac care and academic contributions.
- Hold an MD degree.
- Have or be eligible for certification in Cardiology from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
- Have or be eligible for licensure to practice from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.
- Completion of formal training in Cardiac Critical Care is mandatory.
Teaching experience will be assessed based on formal training in education, a strong track record of interest and excellence in resident and fellow education, formal training in teaching methodology, awards, leadership as a clinical educator, and other relevant experience.
Quality improvement experience will be evaluated by the presence of formal training in quality improvement, a track record of successful initiatives, leadership roles, awards, and/or publications in the field.
