About the Role
J.D. Irving, Limited is seeking a dedicated Mechanical Maintenance Planner to join the dynamic team at the Irving Pulp & Paper Mill in Saint John, New Brunswick. This role is crucial for optimising daily maintenance operations and ensuring the smooth execution of critical projects within a heavy industrial setting.
What You'll Do
As a Mechanical Maintenance Planner, you will be responsible for planning daily maintenance work, coordinating weekly scheduling activities, and meticulously planning and scheduling shutdowns and other significant events. You will collaborate closely with area supervisors, skilled tradespersons, reliability engineers, E&I staff, and operations teams to ensure efficient job execution. Key duties include work order planning, comprehensive administration, and effective material management and procurement. You may also occasionally provide support as an area supervisor or oversee contractors on smaller projects.
What You'll Bring
Candidates should possess an education in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Technologist, or hold a Journeyman Tradesperson designation, or an equivalent qualification. A minimum of three to five years of supervisory or planning experience in maintenance or reliability within a heavy industry environment is essential. We are looking for individuals with exceptional verbal and written communication skills, who demonstrate strong ownership, initiative, and meticulous attention to detail. The successful candidate will also have proven problem-solving abilities and the capacity to lead and manage multiple priorities effectively in a fast-paced setting. Experience with CMMS, ideally JD Edwards or Oracle, is highly valued.
