Maintenance Supervisor - J.D. Irving, Saint John

Your impact

As a Maintenance Supervisor at J.D. Irving, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining safe, reliable, and efficient mill operations. This is an opportunity for a hands-on leader with strong technical skills to supervise a dedicated team. You will be instrumental in troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining critical mill equipment to maximize uptime and ensure continuous, safe production. Your efforts will directly contribute to the quality and reliability of our forest products.

Key responsibilities include:

• Drive a Health & Safety culture and ensure policies and procedures are followed, and accident investigations conducted.
• Supervise Industrial Mechanics and outside contractors on repairs, ongoing improvements, and shutdown planning and execution.
• Lead improvement of Maintenance Best Practices and plant operating practices.
• Develop a culture of Continuous Improvement.
• Data collection and analysis, including financial analysis of potential and active projects.
• Ensuring projects are in control and measuring savings.
• Monitor, track and enhance current equipment availability.
• Training and development of apprentices.
• Coach maintenance team on JDI values and work assignments.

What you'll bring

To succeed in this Maintenance Supervisor role, you will need a combination of technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and a commitment to operational excellence. Your experience will be key in maintaining our advanced facilities and ensuring the quality of our products.

• Trade Certification or Associate's Degree in a related technical field.
• Minimum of 2-3 years of supervisory experience.
• Mechanical knowledge and experience in industry is mandatory.
• Hands-on experience with predictive and preventative maintenance practices.
• Proven track record of successfully implementing and maintaining reliability improvement initiatives.
• Project management and prioritization skills is required.
• Experience with Microsoft Office and JD Edwards E1 are an asset.
• Advanced computer skills and working knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems.
• Exposure to a manufacturing facility is considered an asset.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate team members.
• Strong time management and organizational skills.
• Valid driver's license and clean drivers abstract.
• Lean Six Sigma training is considered an asset.
