As a Dock Supervisor, you will play a critical role in the dynamic operations of the Dartmouth Terminal, liaising with drivers, managing trailer functionality, and prioritizing freight to meet operational goals. Day-to-Day Responsibilities

The Dock Supervisor is central to the daily flow of the terminal, with a broad range of responsibilities focused on operational excellence, employee development, and safety. Your leadership will directly impact the efficiency and success of freight handling and dispatch.

• Executing the dock plan developed by managers by assigning trailers.
• Liaising with drivers and ensuring trailer functionality.
• Prioritizing freight and assigning loads and door walks.
• Managing direct reports to achieve or exceed budgeted performance.
• Responsible for the development of freight handlers.
• Accountable for departure times for trailers to other terminals.
• Ensuring cubing goals and re-weigh goals are met.
• Managing OS&D Claim Control.
• Responsible for the achievement of employee engagement within the dock group.
• Demonstrating excellent leadership characteristics and upholding the Irving Values.
• Responsible for employee safety and fostering a safe work environment that adheres to company policies and procedures.
• Accountable for the development and coaching of indirect reports at the Terminal.
• Responsible for ensuring all shifts are staffed efficiently and effectively.

Qualifications

To excel in this Dock Supervisor role, candidates should possess a strong background in transportation logistics and demonstrate proven leadership capabilities. We are looking for individuals who are knowledgeable about dock operations and proficient with essential office software.

• Secondary School, Trade Certification or College Diploma an asset.
• 5 - 8+ years of experience in a relevant field.
• Comprehensive knowledge of dock operations and procedures.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
