Key Duties for a Class 3 Truck Driver

As a Class 3 Truck Driver with J.D. Irving, you will play a vital role in our delivery services, ensuring materials reach our customers safely and efficiently. This position requires a strong commitment to safety and excellent customer service, as you will be the face of our operations on the road. You will be responsible for the safe transport of various materials, maintaining your truck, and adhering to all regulatory requirements.

• Deliver building materials, including windows, doors, cement, and shingles, to private homes and construction sites safely.
• Actively assist customers within the lumber yard, warehouse, and inside the store.
• Load and unload product efficiently and securely.
• Prepare trucks for loading and provide assistance to warehouse staff as needed.
• Ensure proper vehicle maintenance and uphold all safety standards.
• Maintain consistent contact with dispatch and work proactively to resolve any issues that arise.
• Verify the security and accuracy of all loads before departure.
• Report any defects, violations, accidents, or injuries promptly.
• Maintain a professional demeanour and behaviour at all times.
• Strictly follow all safety regulations, company policies, and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications and Requirements

To successfully meet the demands of this Truck Driver role, candidates must possess a combination of practical experience, necessary certifications, and a strong safety mindset. We are looking for individuals who are reliable, self-motivated, and capable of performing physical work in various weather conditions, ensuring our customers receive their materials without delay.

• Ability to lift up to 75lbs.
• Proven work experience as a delivery driver.
• Valid driver’s license class 3 or higher.
• Ability to work effectively in all weather conditions, within a fast-paced and dynamic workplace.
• Self-motivated, punctual, reliable, and safety-oriented.
• Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
• Effective written and oral communication skills.
• Basic hand tool skills.
• Must have a strong safety mindset.
• Able to do physical work.
• Hitchhiker experience is preferred.
