About the Role

The City of Saskatoon is seeking a dedicated Customer Service Cashier to join its Corporate Financial Services division. This temporary full-time position, reporting to the Revenue Systems Coordinator, is crucial for processing payments for a wide range of civic services and programs within Saskatoon. Qualifications

To be successful as a Customer Service Cashier with the City of Saskatoon, candidates should meet the following education, training, and experience requirements:

  • Graduation from a business college OR graduation from a one-year, post-secondary business related program.
  • One year’s related cashier and customer service experience.

Additionally, the ideal candidate will possess the following knowledge, abilities, and skills:

  • Knowledge of modern office equipment, practices, procedures and systems.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting procedures.
  • Ability to make arithmetic calculations rapidly and accurately.
  • Ability to maintain accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to deal courteously, tactfully and effectively with the public and civic employees.
  • Ability to participate effectively as a team member and to adapt to changes in scheduling, procedures and office equipment.
  • Ability to follow cash handling and security protocols.

A Security Check, specifically an acceptable current Criminal Record Check (CRC), is required upon an offer of employment.

Your Impact

As a Customer Service Cashier, your daily activities will directly contribute to the efficient operation of the Corporate Revenue division. Your ability to accurately process transactions and manage financial records is vital for the City of Saskatoon's financial processes and for providing excellent customer service to residents. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Receiving and processing payments for a variety of civic services and programs.
  • Balancing and depositing cash, cheques and Interac payments.
  • Maintaining accurate daily records, including transaction data and batch totals, and entering them into the revenue collection system.
  • Responding to a large number of enquiries from the public, redirecting them, as necessary, to other sections of the Department, other departments, other utility companies and private parking companies.
  • Monitoring supply of rolled coin, ordering new supply from bank regularly, distributing coin, balancing coin, and keeping accurate records.
  • Receiving and processing cheque cashing requests from other departments to replenish petty cash.
  • Providing administrative support for the Corporate Revenue division, including sorting and distributing mail, filing documentation and processing data.
  • Monitoring supplies and requesting orders in a timely manner.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.
