WSP is seeking a dedicated Project Controls Analyst to join their team in BC, Canada. This is a unique opportunity to build the future by playing a key role in delivering vital environmental and sustainability projects for Earth & Environment – Environmental Management clients across British Columbia and Yukon. As a Project Controls Analyst, you will work closely with the Lead project controls analyst to build trusted partnerships with Project Managers and technical teams, strengthening cost control, forecasting accuracy, resource planning, and overall project performance across a diverse portfolio of environmental management projects. This role is crucial for maintaining control and delivering successful outcomes for WSP's clients and communities.
You will apply your analytical expertise and financial acumen to monitor budgets, track project performance, and identify emerging risks early across a large project portfolio. Your work will help project teams navigate scope changes, forecasting updates, and performance recovery where needed. By providing clear visibility into cost, schedule, and financial performance, you will help manage risk and ensure project success. Key duties
- Support the establishment and maintenance of robust project cost estimates, budgets, forecasts, and cashflow projections to support effective project delivery.
- Monitor project portfolio performance against approved cost and schedule baselines, ensuring early visibility of risks and trends.
- Identify, analyze, and clearly communicate cost and schedule variances to support proactive decision-making.
- Support initial project risk assessments and contingency planning activities for complex or high-risk projects.
- Maintain project controls reports and dashboards that provide clear insight into project financial performance.
- Support change management analyses, assessing cost and schedule impacts associated with scope changes.
- Collaborate closely with Project Managers to provide earned value metrics (CPI, SPI) and forecast insights (EAC, ETC).
What you'll bring
- Diploma or degree in Project Management, Business, Finance, Environmental Management, Engineering, Data Analytics, or a related discipline.
- 3 to 5 years of progressive experience in project controls, project finance, or cost controls within consulting, engineering, environmental services, or construction environments.
- Strong proficiency in financial analysis, forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis, and advanced Microsoft Excel.
- Experience working with Oracle financial systems, ERP platforms, project reporting tools, or similar project accounting systems.
- Experience supporting multi-disciplinary environmental, regulatory, remediation, infrastructure, mining, energy, or resource-sector projects.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to partner effectively with technical and project leadership teams.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive, with a demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment.
