Responsibilities of a Freight Team Associate

As an Overnight Freight Team Associate at Home Depot in Prince George, you will be a vital part of ensuring our store is well-stocked and organised. This role is crucial for maintaining efficient operations and supporting our customer service goals. You will handle a variety of merchandise, ensuring it is properly placed and accessible.

• Stocking merchandise onto shelves to achieve 100% in stock levels.
• Packing-out and packing-down merchandise as directed.
• Merchandising new items and promotions to attract customer attention.
• Maintaining aisle cleanliness and shoppability to ensure merchandise is accessible and presented in a visually appealing manner.
• Maintaining and organizing overheads, including striping overheads, for efficient storage.
• Communicating effectively with other freight team members to ensure all product is stocked in the proper area.
• Providing customer service as required by customer demand, following Home Depot’s Get Model (Greeting, Engaging, and Thanking the Customer).
• When required, asking open-ended questions about the customer’s projects to determine their needs and level of expertise.
• Moving freight safely from designated staging areas to overheads or bringing merchandise down from overheads using appropriate equipment, including forklifts.
• Ensuring customers are able to move through the aisles easily and safely.
• Following all Safety and Loss Prevention Policies and Procedures diligently.
• Picking orders when assigned and carefully packing them to ensure products are not damaged, accurately labelling and placing orders into specified holding areas.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed as an Overnight Freight Team Associate, candidates should possess a combination of practical skills and personal competencies. This role requires a commitment to safety and efficiency, as well as the ability to work effectively within a team to manage merchandise and support customer needs.

• Minimum Education: Highschool Diploma or Equivalent.
• Minimum Years of Work Experience: 1 to 2 years Retail or Distribution experience is an asset.
• Competencies: Action Oriented, Communicates Effectively, Customer Focus, Drives Results.
• Skills: Strong interpersonal skills and organizational skills.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to perform bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and moving items. Must be able to climb ladders, up to the height of 12-16 feet, to obtain or stock merchandise.
• Other Requirements/Assets: Knowledge of operating reach trucks, forklifts, and order picker machines is an asset.
