The primary responsibilities of this Grocery Utility Clerk role involve providing exceptional customer service and maintaining positive customer relations through the professional handling of inquiries, comments, requests, and any complaints. This dedicated individual will effectively contribute to a diverse team environment in a proficient and friendly manner. Key duties are comprehensive, including but not limited to, efficiently stocking shelves, constructing appealing displays, and ensuring all products are faced correctly and neatly organised. The Grocery Utility Clerk is also responsible for maintaining optimal stock levels and display presentation across all areas, including dairy, freezer, and general grocery sections, as well as the warehouse. Furthermore, this role entails careful merchandise handling to ensure quality and minimise damages, along with providing substitutions and maintaining price integrity, including processing price changes accurately. General cleanup duties are also part of the role, such as promptly cleaning spills and display fixtures, and keeping the sales floor and back stock area free from cardboard and debris, including the proper disposal of garbage. Adherence to established Occupational Health & Safety, Food Safety, and Environmental regulations and policies is paramount to ensure the health and safety of all staff and customers. Additionally, the Grocery Utility Clerk is responsible for the proper care, use, and maintenance of equipment and tools, reporting any repair requirements to management. This position also includes all aspects of ordering merchandise and supplies, receiving processes such as reviewing and verifying invoices, handling returns, transfers, and claims, and ensuring proper product storage. Assisting in organising and conducting inventory counts is also a responsibility, along with assuming additional related duties as required, including supporting other departments and training new team members.
