Who we're looking for

- Grade 9 or an acceptable combination of education and experience.
- Related retail experience, including the provision of customer service.

- Knowledge of ordering merchandise and supplies, and related procedures.
Additionally, candidates must be fluent in English and be prepared to complete Foodwise #14 within one year of employment, demonstrating our commitment to food safety and quality standards.
Day-to-day
As a Produce Utility Clerk, your daily responsibilities will ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the produce department, directly impacting the customer experience. You will produce high-quality displays and maintain stock levels, ensuring our members always find fresh, appealing products.
- Providing customer service and maintaining positive customer relations through the proper handling of customer questions, comments, requests, and complaints. Effectively working in a diverse team environment in a proficient and friendly manner.
- Performing all aspects of the Produce Utility function including but not limited to culling, stocking, displays, and facing in an efficient and organized manner. Ensuring display presentation and stock levels are maintained.
- Handling merchandise ensuring quality, minimizing damages and markdowns. Providing substitutions and ensuring price integrity including price changes.
- Performing general cleanup duties such as cleaning spills and display fixtures to ensure a neat and organized department. Responsible for keeping the sales floor and back stock area clean from cardboard and debris, as well as disposal of garbage.
- Performing duties following established Occupational Health & Safety, Food Safety, and Environmental regulations and policies to ensure the health and safety of all staff and customers.
- Ensuring the proper care, use, and maintenance of equipment and tools. Reporting repair requirements to the Produce Supervisor, Produce or Duty Manager.
- Being responsible for all aspects of ordering merchandise and supplies.
- Being responsible for all aspects of receiving including reviewing/verifying invoices, returns, transfers, claims, and proper storage of products.
- Assisting in organizing and conducting inventory.
