Key Responsibilities and Patient Care Standards

The Pharmacist’s day-to-day focus revolves around meticulous patient care and outstanding customer service. This includes personally filling prescriptions, which involves evaluating their appropriateness, maintaining accurate records as per Alberta Pharmaceutical Association guidelines and Calgary Co-op Pharmacy policies, and consulting with physicians or other valid practitioners when clarification is needed. A high level of pharmaceutical care is expected in all interactions. Routine and regular administration of injections and vaccinations is a critical component of this role. Pharmacists will provide information and patient-oriented advice to customers concerning the proper use of prescription medication, as well as over-the-counter or self-medication products. Awareness and adherence to Calgary Co-op Pharmacy contracts, customer care and service standards, policies, and procedures are paramount, all while maintaining a high level of security. Beyond direct patient interaction, the role involves supervising and assisting in perpetual inventory processes, ordering prescription and dispensary products, and maintaining inventory levels consistent with budgeted targets to maximize sales and customer satisfaction. The Pharmacist will also supervise pharmacy technicians according to applicable rules and regulations, and abide by government and professional regulations regarding the control, safekeeping, and sale of pharmaceuticals.

Qualifications and Employee Benefits

To qualify for this Pharmacist position, candidates must possess a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (BSc. Pharm) and be licensed and registered with the Alberta College of Pharmacists.
