About the Role

As a Yard Associate with J.D. Irving in Dartmouth, you will be a vital part of our team, delivering exceptional service to our valued customers. This hands-on role involves assisting with product selection, efficient loading, and ensuring a safe and well-organized yard environment. Responsibilities

• Ensure safety standards are met at all times within the yard environment.
• Greet and assist customers with locating, picking, and loading lumber and various building materials.
• Organize and maintain yard displays, including accurate signage and pricing for all products.
• Load, unload, replenish, and restock inventory efficiently across the yard.
• Operate equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks, with comprehensive training provided.
• Complete necessary paperwork for orders, returns, and damaged goods.
• Stay informed about new products and ongoing promotions to better serve customers.

• The ability to work effectively outdoors in varying Canadian weather conditions.
• Availability to work a variable shift schedule, including mornings, evenings, and weekends.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills to assist our customers.
• Previous experience in a lumber yard or retail environment is considered an asset.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced, team-oriented setting.
• Physical ability to lift and move heavy materials safely.
• Must be 21 years of age or older due to forklift operation requirements.
• A Grade 12 diploma or equivalent is required.
