Position Summary

The City of Saskatoon is seeking a dedicated Training and Promotions Coordinator to join the Corporate Financial Services division. This pivotal role, reporting to the Contact Centre Manager, is responsible for identifying staff training needs and subsequently developing, administering, coordinating, and delivering essential training sessions. These sessions are specifically related to revenue processes, procedures, and systems within the division.

Beyond internal training, this position also plays a key part in promoting related revenue programs to the public. This involves drafting and modifying a variety of communications to effectively engage the community. This is a permanent, full-time opportunity to contribute to the City of Saskatoon's operational excellence.

Your Impact

As the Training and Promotions Coordinator, you will be instrumental in ensuring City of Saskatoon staff are well-equipped and informed, while also effectively communicating vital revenue programs to the public. Your ability to manage comprehensive training and promotional initiatives will directly support the Corporate Revenue division's objectives.

  • Develop, coordinate, and conduct orientation sessions for new staff.
  • Develop, review, modify, and conduct a variety of training programs related to providing effective customer service and the efficient use of Revenue Division systems, processes, and procedures.
  • Develop, revise, and maintain training materials, ensuring the proper recording of program participation.
  • Maintain current knowledge of Division processes, procedures, systems, and customer service initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Division managers, supervisors, and staff to assess training needs, program promotion requirements, and business process structure prior to implementation.
  • Communicate with external agencies to coordinate training sessions and assist with preparing a training budget and monitoring external training expenditures, as required.
  • Develop training schedules and collaborate with management to schedule staff required to participate in training. Reserve and ensure proper set up of training facilities and arrange for instructors for program delivery.
  • Communicate with supervisors to provide constructive feedback regarding participant performance in orientation and training sessions, and conduct follow-up evaluations with participants.
  • Evaluate training session delivery and effectiveness, making necessary changes for improvement.
  • Draft, modify, and maintain promotional material (e.g., brochures, signs, website) related to programs offered to the public by the Corporate Revenue Division, and assist with final review and approval of promotional material.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Skills and Experience

To succeed in this administration job in Saskatoon, you will bring a strong background in both customer service and training coordination, coupled with a keen understanding of promotional strategies. Your proven ability to lead and develop staff will be key.

  • Successful completion of a two-year, post-secondary business diploma, including completion of a training and development course.
  • Five years’ progressively responsible customer service experience, including two years’ facilitating and coordinating training programs.
  • Experience preparing promotional material and working with Revenue Division processes, systems, and procedures would be considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of business English and modern office practices and procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to present and express ideas and concepts effectively orally, visually, and in writing to a variety of audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to train and direct staff.
  • Ability to plan, design, coordinate, and conduct training sessions.
  • Ability to plan and design promotional programs and strategies.
  • Ability to deal effectively and tactfully with the public and civic employees.
  • Ability to plan and organize work effectively.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated skill in the operation of a computer with word-processing, spreadsheet, database, and software used in the Division.
  • Skill in the use and application of group facilitation processes.
