About the Role
The University of Toronto Scarborough (UTSC) is seeking a dedicated Sessional Lecturer for the BIOD21H3F Advanced Molecular Biology Laboratory course. This intensive course is crucial for students looking to gain essential information and practical experience in recombinant DNA technology, molecular biology, and bioinformatics. The applications of molecular technology continue to revolutionize our understanding across all life sciences, from biotechnology to human disease, making this a vital teaching opportunity within the Department of Biological Sciences at UTSC. This position is posted in accordance with the CUPE 3902 Unit 3 Collective Agreement.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Design and deliver comprehensive course materials, including lectures and laboratory manuals.
- Guide student discussions and presentations effectively.
- Ensure the smooth and efficient running of all laboratory sessions.
- Develop and administer assignments and other assessments, such as exams.
- Undertake marking and grading of student work.
- Hold regular office hours to support student learning.
- Perform miscellaneous clerical tasks as required.
- Instructors must be on site during all laboratory sessions at UTSC. Please consult the timetable for specific lecture and lab schedules.
What You'll Bring

- Successful candidates should have or be near completion of their Ph.D.
- Knowledgeable in advanced molecular biology laboratory courses at the 4th-year level.

- BioSafety Certified (proof required) or willing to undergo BioSafety training prior to taking up the position.
- Previous teaching experience is preferred.
- Previous teaching experience in BIOD21H3 at UTSC is considered a valuable asset.
