Position summary

Personal Support Workers (PSWs) are integral to the Canadian health care system, providing essential care and support that allows patients to maintain independence and well-being. At Spectrum Health Care, PSWs work closely with patients and their families in Etobicoke, delivering compassionate personal care and assistance with daily living activities. What you'll do

As a Personal Support Worker with Spectrum Health Care, you will play a direct role in enhancing the quality of life for patients. Your daily responsibilities will focus on providing hands-on personal care and support, adapting to the evolving needs of each individual.

  • Provide personal care and assistance with activities of daily living (bathing, toileting, skincare, light meal preparation, feeding, etc.) in personal residences or facilities.
  • Continually assess, anticipate, identify, and respond to new and changing needs of patients, communicating available Total Care resources when appropriate.
  • Perform delegated and/or assigned tasks under the supervision of a Home Support Supervisor.
  • Travel within the assigned region between patients’ residences or facilities as required.

Skills and experience

  • One of the following qualifications is required:
  • Valid Personal Support Worker Certificate from a Ministry of Training, Colleges, and Universities or the Ministry of Education approved program.
  • RN/RPN Student with a minimum successful completion of year one of the program.
  • Internationally licensed Nurse, Midwife, or Physician.
  • Physical ability to meet the demands of the job (e.g., ability to stand, bend, walk, crouch, kneel, and reach freely for extended periods; ability to lift 23 kg independently; ability to assist clients with standing, walking, sitting; able to reposition clients in bed).
  • Demonstrated ability to provide exceptional personal care and customer service.
  • Valid Standard First Aid and Level C CPR.
  • Valid Vulnerable Sector Criminal Check.
  • Updated TB Test (last 12 months).
  • Proficient verbal and written English communication skills (additional language skills considered an asset).
