Position summary

Personal Support Workers (PSWs) are integral to the Canadian health care system, providing essential care and support that allows patients to maintain independence and well-being. At Spectrum Health Care, PSWs work closely with patients and their families in Etobicoke, delivering compassionate personal care and assistance with daily living activities. This crucial support ensures individuals can recover safely from acute illnesses or continue to live comfortably in their homes throughout the aging process.

What you'll do

As a Personal Support Worker with Spectrum Health Care, you will play a direct role in enhancing the quality of life for patients. Your daily responsibilities will focus on providing hands-on personal care and support, adapting to the evolving needs of each individual.

• Provide personal care and assistance with activities of daily living (bathing, toileting, skincare, light meal preparation, feeding, etc.) in personal residences or facilities.
• Continually assess, anticipate, identify, and respond to new and changing needs of patients, communicating available Total Care resources when appropriate.
• Perform delegated and/or assigned tasks under the supervision of a Home Support Supervisor.
• Travel within the assigned region between patients’ residences or facilities as required.

• One of the following qualifications is required:
• Valid Personal Support Worker Certificate from a Ministry of Training, Colleges, and Universities or the Ministry of Education approved program.
• RN/RPN Student with a minimum successful completion of year one of the program.
• Internationally licensed Nurse, Midwife, or Physician.
• Physical ability to meet the demands of the job (e.g., ability to stand, bend, walk, crouch, kneel, and reach freely for extended periods; ability to lift 23 kg independently; ability to assist clients with standing, walking, sitting; able to reposition clients in bed).
• Demonstrated ability to provide exceptional personal care and customer service.
• Valid Standard First Aid and Level C CPR.
• Valid Vulnerable Sector Criminal Check.
• Updated TB Test (last 12 months).
• Proficient verbal and written English communication skills (additional language skills considered an asset).
