About the Role
This interim Assistant Manager role at Mark's in Athabasca, AB, offers a leadership opportunity within a dynamic retail environment. You will be instrumental in inspiring a team, ensuring exceptional customer service, and overseeing efficient store operations. Mark's, a proud member of the Canadian Tire family of companies, is a leading destination for industrial and casual apparel and footwear in Canada. This position is key to the store's success and contributes to the brand's ongoing evolution.
Your Responsibilities
You will lead by example, coaching your team to consistently deliver high standards of customer service and an outstanding omni-channel experience, which includes managing in-store eCommerce sales and ensuring timely order fulfilment. A core part of your role involves leading the B2B Mark’s Commercial Business function, handling order entry, and coordinating accurate and prompt delivery to customers.
Operationally, you will implement, communicate, and ensure adherence to all operating procedures, processes, and policies. Your duties will encompass managing scheduling, overseeing shipping, receiving, and eCommerce fulfilment operations, cash management, and assisting with annual inventories. You will also ensure strict compliance with all corporate loss prevention, cash and audit, and occupational health and safety policies. In the Store Manager's absence, you will assume full responsibility for all store operations.
Furthermore, you are responsible for leading effective Shift Starter meetings and coaching sessions, clearly communicating daily operational game plans. You will also ensure your team completes all required training within established timeframes. As a brand ambassador, you will motivate your team through recognition programs and maintain Mark’s performance management expectations, including the consistent and impartial application of disciplinary processes when necessary. You will actively promote a positive, safe, inclusive, and empowering work environment.
What You'll Bring
You possess a proven ability to coach, mentor, and develop both department and store teams by setting clear expectations, providing effective communication and feedback, and offering ongoing support. You are skilled in building and managing daily and weekly operational plans for your department and the store.
Exceptional communication and organisational skills are essential, complemented by superior training and mentoring capabilities. Candidates must have three to five years of relevant retail experience and possess basic computer skills. A high level of energy, enthusiasm, and a strong drive to succeed are also key attributes for this role.
Why Work at Mark's
Mark's offers competitive compensation along with various perks designed to support your well-being, including career growth opportunities and product discounts. The typical hiring range for this position is between $34,800 and $43,500 annually. Final salary decisions are influenced by factors such as your experience, store size, market location, industry benchmarks, internal equity, and other specific role requirements.
Mark's is deeply committed to fostering an environment where belonging thrives, with diversity, inclusion, and equity integrated into every aspect of their operations. They strive to build an organisational culture where everyone is treated with dignity, respecting individual religion, nationality, gender, race, age, perceived ability, spoken language, sexual orientation, and identification.
As a company, Mark's stands firm in its core value that inclusion is paramount. They welcome and encourage candidates from equity-seeking groups, including racialized individuals, Indigenous peoples, 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals, women, and people with disabilities. Should you require any accommodation during the application or interview process, please communicate your needs, and arrangements will be made to support you.
