Day-to-day responsibilities
As a Senior Consultant, Enterprise Assortment Planning, your daily activities will involve a blend of analytical work, strategic development, and collaborative engagement. You will report to the Manager, Enterprise Assortment Planning, and play a key role in providing actionable insights that directly influence business outcomes across Canadian Tire's diverse operations. Your contributions will help refine our approach to category management and enhance our overall retail offering.
- Provide strategic insights and recommendations based on comprehensive customer and business performance data, working closely with banner planning functions and merchants.
- Assist in refreshing and evolving the role and intent category management framework.
- Support the definition and validation of category guardrails, including dimensions, directions, and ranges, informed by research and insights from the Customer Strategy team.
- Collaborate closely with various functional teams to quantify and refine category guardrails, ensuring cross-functional expertise is considered to address customer needs, validate assumptions, and align enterprise goals.
- Assist in the preparation of materials and key insights for monthly performance meetings, which are led by the Chief Commercial Officer (CCO).
Requirements
We are seeking a critical thinker with robust business, financial, and analytical acumen, comfortable navigating complex and ambiguous environments. The ideal candidate for this administration role is detail-oriented, process-minded, and brings a collaborative approach with strong influencing skills to build relationships across diverse stakeholder groups. You must be adept at communicating insights clearly and effectively, translating intricate analysis into actionable recommendations that drive retail success. Experience in enterprise assortment planning within a retail context is highly valued.
- University Degree, with a preference for disciplines such as Data Analytics, Finance, Strategy, or other business-related fields.
- Minimum of 3+ years of experience in data analysis, insights delivery, or consulting; retail industry and assortment planning experience are strong assets.
- Proficiency in SQL and Tableau (or comparable tools/languages), coupled with advanced Excel expertise, including formulas, pivot tables, databases, VBA, and macros.
- Strong analytical, financial modelling, and problem-solving skills, alongside a solid understanding of retail math and key performance metrics.
- Proven ability to manage cross-functional projects and influence outcomes through effective collaboration and data-driven insights.
- Excellent written communication, interpersonal, and project management skills.
