About the role

J.D. Irving has an opportunity for a Human Resources Director within the Transportation & Logistics Division, based in Saint John, NB. Reporting to the Divisional Director of Human Resources, you will serve as a key member of the senior leadership team and a trusted advisor to business leaders. This role focuses on aligning human resources priorities with overarching business objectives, leading talent and workforce strategies, strengthening employee engagement, and enabling organizational performance through progressive and practical solutions.

What you'll do

As a senior leader in human resources, you will partner closely with operational leadership and business partners to drive impactful strategies across the division:

• Partner with the Divisional Director of Human Resources, the General Manager, and other business and HR leaders to develop and execute HR strategies, programs, and processes aligned with business priorities.
• Lead, coach, and develop a team of HR professionals who provide trusted support to employees and leaders and work effectively with shared services and external partners.
• Oversee the delivery of key HR programs, including talent attraction and retention, workforce and succession planning, performance management, leadership development, compensation, and employee engagement.
• Anticipate business and workforce needs and provide proactive HR leadership, advice, coaching, and practical solutions.
• Lead and support organizational effectiveness and change initiatives that enable business growth and operational performance.
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performing culture grounded in accountability, collaboration, and teamwork.

Requirements

Candidates seeking to join our team must meet the following professional and educational qualifications:

• An undergraduate degree in business administration, human resource management, or a related discipline, with a CPHR designation considered an asset.
• Progressive HR leadership experience, including experience operating at both strategic and operational levels.
• A proven record of building, leading, and developing highly engaged HR teams.
• Experience supporting operational and hourly workforces.
• Strong business acumen and the ability to translate business priorities into effective HR strategies and practical solutions.
• Demonstrated experience leading organizational change and supporting organizational effectiveness.
