What You'll Do as an AV Specialist

As an Hourly AV Specialist at The Rec Room Granville in Vancouver, you will be a key player in bringing entertainment to life. This technical position offers the opportunity to implement audio, visual, and lighting production for a diverse range of programming and hosted events. You will provide essential technical support, ensuring best-in-class delivery for all AV services.

• Provide technical support for various entertainment offerings, including music, comedy, screenings, interactive events, onstage conversations, corporate events, and personal celebrations.
• Ensure a consistent standard of delivery for AV services, collaborating with internal and external service providers and clients.
• Maintain in-venue displays and Crestron controls, participating in regular maintenance programs, and ensuring AV inventory is kept in good repair with damages documented and reported.
• Appropriately handle the delivery of materials to The Rec Room, both internal and external, while providing excellent client services within our code of conduct.
• Report any AV and lighting concerns as needed to maintain optimal operational standards.

Qualifications for this Specialist Role

To excel in this Hourly AV Specialist position, candidates are required to demonstrate a strong background in live event production and technical expertise. While certain educational achievements are preferred, practical experience and a robust skill set are paramount.

• Degree or Diploma in AV Production preferred.
• High degree of familiarity with emerging trends in AV Production and interactive technologies preferred.

• Minimum of 3+ years experience in live event AV production is required.
• Strong AV experience in audio engineering, stage lighting, and video presentation is essential.

• Excellent IT Skills, specifically with Microsoft Office.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Efficient, consistent team player.
• Innovative problem-solving skills.
• Excellent time management skills.
• An outgoing, people-oriented personality.
• Familiarity with the local entertainment industry is an asset.
• Excellent verbal, public, and written communication abilities.

Working Conditions

This role as an AV Specialist at Cineplex's The Rec Room Granville requires flexibility and physical stamina. You will be expected to work evenings, weekends, and additional hours as required, often in a fast-paced environment. The facility spans 35,000 square feet, necessitating full range of motion physicality, physical endurance, and stamina throughout each shift. You must be able to lift 50lb and be comfortable working in conditions with elevated sound levels and low lighting. Manual dexterity is also required for using desktop computers and peripherals.
