About the role
Later, a world-leading influencer marketing company, is seeking a Data/Analytics Co-op to join their dedicated Data team in Vancouver, British Columbia. This co-op position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience building the crucial data models and analytics foundations that empower teams across Later to make informed business decisions. You will collaborate closely with Data Engineers, Analytics Engineers, and Analysts, transforming raw data into reliable, well-structured datasets that drive reporting, dashboards, product analytics, and strategic business initiatives. This role provides exposure to a modern cloud data platform and technologies like SQL, dbt, BigQuery, Python, and various business intelligence tools.
Within your co-op term, success will involve quickly ramping up on Later's data platform and core datasets, actively contributing to SQL and dbt projects. By the 90-day mark, you will be independently building and testing analytics models, delivering reliable datasets for reporting and analysis. By the end of your co-op, you will have shipped meaningful improvements to the analytics platform and developed a strong understanding of how to translate complex business questions into simple, reliable, and useful data solutions.
Day-to-day
As a Data/Analytics Co-op, your daily contributions will be vital to enhancing Later's data capabilities. You will be involved in a range of activities designed to ensure data accuracy, accessibility, and utility for various teams.
- Build and maintain SQL and dbt data models that transform raw data into reliable, analytics-ready datasets.
- Create reusable datasets and metrics that support consistent reporting and self-service analytics across teams.
- Build data quality tests and investigate issues to improve the accuracy and reliability of our data.
- Partner with Analysts and business teams to translate reporting and analytics needs into clear data models and definitions.
- Improve existing data models and pipelines for performance, maintainability, and scalability.
- Contribute to documentation, data lineage, code reviews, and engineering best practices.
- Work with large datasets in BigQuery and gain hands-on experience with a modern cloud data platform.

- Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree or diploma in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field.
- Strong interest in analytics engineering, data engineering, or business intelligence.
- Working knowledge of SQL, relational databases, and basic data modelling concepts.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Curiosity about how data is transformed and used to support business decisions.
- Clear communication skills and an ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical partners.
- Ability to learn quickly and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Exposure to dbt, BigQuery or other cloud data warehouses, Python, Git, or BI tools through coursework, personal projects, internships, or prior co-op experience is considered a significant asset.

Later adopts a market-based and data-driven approach to compensation, leveraging trusted third-party sources to determine market value based on function, level, geographic location, and scope. Compensation is evaluated bi-annually, considering performance and market factors. For this co-op role, the compensation is structured as a monthly salary.
- Salary Range: $4,000 per month
