Role Overview

As a Financial Analyst at UBC, you will play a pivotal role within the Digital Payment Program (DPP) under Financial Operations. This position is central to managing the financial analysis for all University transactions, including revenue streams exceeding $800M. Working independently under the general direction of the Finance Services Manager, you will contribute significantly to budget preparation, comprehensive financial reporting, business process improvement, and detailed financial modelling for the DPP. Your Impact

This Financial Analyst position directly influences the financial health and strategic decision-making of UBC's Digital Payment Program. Your expertise in financial analysis and management will ensure accuracy and provide critical insights for the DPP leadership team and other stakeholders. Your work will involve collaborating with various University departments and external partners, ensuring seamless financial operations and informed resource allocation. Key responsibilities include:

• Monitoring monthly manual and automated DPP chargeback cycles to identify and resolve anomalies.
• Reviewing manual processes and reports to ensure accurate transfers, collaborating with relevant stakeholders.
• Investigating discrepancies in automated transfers and working with the Integrated Service Centre (ISC) to resolve root causes.
• Preparing budgets and financial forecasting on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis to support DPP leadership.
• Collaborating in business planning meetings to create effective reporting, compare budget to actuals, and conduct variance analysis.
• Developing and preparing financial models and reports from various systems (Workday, TouchNet, Global Payments, TransferMate) to support decision-making, including loan payments, bad debt recovery, and chargeback rate changes.
• Analyzing the 10-year financial model and making recommendations for program sustainability, including potential chargeback rate adjustments for Board of Governors briefings.
• Calculating and reporting on bad debt recovery.
• Investigating billing discrepancies and engaging DPP customers to find effective solutions, involving analysis across multiple systems.
• Monitoring the appropriateness of Worktags for new merchants.
• Facilitating training sessions on the financial aspects of DPP policies and procedures.
• Preparing and maintaining updated business process documentation for various systems, workflows, and integrations.
• Reviewing financial components of DPP contracts.
• Performing other duties as required to support the finance program.

Who We're Looking For

We are seeking a dedicated professional with a strong foundation in finance and a commitment to accuracy. The ideal candidate for this role will possess the following qualifications and attributes:

• Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline.
• Enrolled in the CPA Professional Education Program (PEP) modules.
• Minimum of three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
