J.D. Irving is hiring for an Electrical & Instrumentation Tradesperson at Irving Paper in Saint John, reporting to the E&I Team Leader within the Maintenance Department. As an Electrical & Instrumentation Tradesperson, you will perform all aspects of electrical and instrumentation maintenance and repairs at the paper mill. You will perform the required troubleshooting, programming, and research to maintain and improve existing distributed controls, programmable controls, mill process controls, and electrical distribution systems. You will assist in continuous improvement through instrument tuning and system program changes. Please note that on-call coverage and shift work may be required for this position.

Responsibilities

• Perform all aspects of electrical and instrumentation maintenance and repairs at the paper mill
• Perform required troubleshooting, programming, and research to maintain and improve existing distributed controls, programmable controls, mill process controls, and electrical distribution systems
• Assist in continuous improvement through instrument tuning and system program changes
• Fulfill on-call coverage and shift work as required

What you'll bring

• Instrumentation Journeyman License, or an Industrial Controls Technology Diploma
• Industrial experience in a similar industry would be considered an asset
• Possess knowledge of plant instrumentation and electrical systems, Honeywell Distributed Control Systems, Programmable Logic Controls, and Variable Speed Drives including stand-alone and coordinated paper machine applications
• Possess working knowledge of high voltage switchgear, transformers, and system protection as well as computer experience
• Problem solving ability
• Self-motivated and strong personal drive
• Team player with interpersonal skills
• Electrical aptitude
