About the Role

As a Business Solutions Analyst at the University of Alberta, you will play a pivotal role within Core Business Solutions in Enterprise Applications, reporting to the Enterprise Service Management Lead. This position is central to the integration testing and continual service improvement of the university's Enterprise Service Management solutions, tools, and technology. You will collaborate closely with business services staff, Enterprise Applications staff, IST staff, and external service providers to implement and support robust business solutions, manage application change processes, and provide essential application support.

This role involves providing in-depth application consultation to central business services departments, faculty and college administrative offices, and campus users. You will be instrumental in business analysis documentation, enterprise solution analysis and design, change management, and solution delivery. A key aspect of your contribution will be leading requirements validation, analysis, design, configuration, testing, and delivery efforts. You will also be responsible for resolving application problems and clearly communicating solution training and procedures. Your work will ensure that all solutions are thoroughly documented for operational and maintenance purposes, and you will actively participate in and manage application enhancements, feature enablement, upgrades, and new implementation projects, safeguarding the assets entrusted to your care.

Your Expertise and Impact

To excel in this Business Solutions Analyst position, you will possess a post-secondary degree or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience. A minimum of two years of business analysis experience is required, specifically related to complex business process review, business process management, and enterprise application implementation, including design, configuration, enhancement, and production support. Your experience should demonstrate a strong understanding of applications and technologies such as Enterprise Service Management solutions (e.g., Freshservice, ServiceNow), Structured Query Language (SQL) for relational database management systems, Business Process Management, Workflow Administration and Automation Tools, Data Query and Report Development Tools, and Application Testing Tools and Frameworks.

You will have demonstrated experience in providing in-depth analysis and administration of Enterprise Service Management (ESM) applications to support various business service areas and end users. Your background should include participation in enterprise application change initiatives, adept troubleshooting of application issues, and effective communication of technical procedures and solutions to diverse stakeholders. Knowledge of application strategy development and experience supporting the design and implementation of enterprise administrative applications in collaboration with business partners are essential. Furthermore, experience contributing to application security design and working with technical teams to ensure compliance with established security standards, policies, and best practices is highly valued.
