Senior Environmental Project Manager - WSP, Edmonton

Key duties

As a Senior Environmental Project Manager at WSP, you will play a pivotal role in managing complex environmental assessments and remediation projects across Northern Canada. This position offers the opportunity to make a significant impact by collaborating with a dynamic team and mentoring junior staff, ensuring the highest standards of health and safety and project delivery.

• Participate in a team environment, working closely with Project Coordinators, other Project Managers, Senior Project Directors/Technical Leads, and Field Technicians/Scientists/Engineers.
• Prepare Health and Safety plans and Emergency response plans.
• Prepare proposals and cost estimates, schedule field staff and subcontractors, compile data for, and write, reports including preparing conclusions and recommendations.
• Be responsible for project accounting, tracking, and reporting requirements to the terms of reference under WSP’s Master Services Agreements.
• Train junior staff in environmental practices including Phase I and II ESAs, drilling, surveying, groundwater sampling, oversight of remediation, etc., as well as on site-specific health and safety.
• Interface with clients to ensure needs are met and projects/proposals are moving forward, working with other members of the team to ensure provision of the support necessary for completion of projects.
• Work with and provide support to other members of the RPM Team in sharing health and safety, project management, project completion, and client service responsibilities.
• Participate in a limited number of site visits during two field programs (winter and summer).

Requirements

To succeed in this Senior Environmental Project Manager role at WSP, candidates should possess a strong background in environmental science or engineering, coupled with extensive experience in contaminated sites. A commitment to safety and a proactive approach to project management are essential.

• University degree or diploma in engineering, or natural/earth sciences.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in contaminated site assessments and conceptual site models of Upstream oil and gas sites.
• Experience working in the north is preferred.
• Sound understanding of the need for health and safety procedures in the workplace and possessing a safety-conscious attitude.
• Professional designation with eligibility to register in NWT and Yukon is preferred.
