Position Summary

As a vital member of the Education Technology and Media Services (ETMS) team at University Health Network (UHN), the Specialist, Audio-Visual & Technology Services plays a crucial role in supporting the delivery of health care to health professionals. This involves leveraging video conferencing and other innovative technologies to facilitate learning and communication. The primary responsibilities include leading specialized technical operations within the ETMS department, focusing on expanded services such as special installation projects, service desk operations, educational video conferencing, and comprehensive computer software/hardware application support. You will ensure that all equipment and staffing meet the diverse needs of clients both within UHN and across external health and other organizations. This role also involves assisting with the procurement of specialized equipment and technologies, performing maintenance and administration for various operational projects, and managing the day-to-day technology needs of users across UHN. Additionally, you will provide essential technical support for Tele-education events across all University Health Network sites, handle the delivery, setup, movement, dismantling, and storage of ETMS equipment, troubleshoot videoconferencing technology, and contribute to the expansion of the ETMS program.

What You'll Do

  • Coordinate and deliver audiovisual and educational technology services across UHN, including broadcasting, video conferencing, and multi-site event support.
  • Provide technical expertise and support by developing solutions, troubleshooting hardware/software, and enabling effective use of AV technology across inter-professional teams.
  • Manage event logistics and administration, including intake, scheduling (Microsoft 365), room/equipment bookings, client coordination, and invoicing.
  • Install, configure, and maintain AV systems and infrastructure, including control systems, network-enabled equipment, and hardware (e.g., DSPs, microphones, displays).
  • Oversee equipment lifecycle management, including procurement, inventory, licensing, maintenance, audits, and replacement planning.
  • Deliver training and real-time technical support to staff and clinicians, resolving multiple issues simultaneously via phone, email, and in person.
  • Collaborate with IT and internal stakeholders to support connectivity, system updates, and ongoing expansion of AV and ETMS capabilities across UHN.

Skills and Experience

  • Completion of a 3-year community college program in multimedia, or audio and video recording, or recognized equivalent required.
  • 3-4 years practical and related experience and/or 2 years on-the-job training required.
  • Strong AV background and skills required.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Ability to set priorities and meet deadlines required.
  • Experience working in a hospital environment preferred.
