Key Responsibilities and Qualifications

The successful Associate Producer will attend and contribute to regular editorial meetings, collaborating closely with Producer(s), Commentators, and other Associate Producer(s) to understand and articulate story narratives for our shows. You will offer opinions and suggestions, write, and prepare various broadcast materials including voice overs, reports, clips, headlines, teases, bumpers, and feature elements. Assisting the producer with lineup building and searching for hockey content using archive resources like Quantel and Ardome are also key tasks. When required, you will accurately enter font information, including researched stats, ensuring factual and grammatical correctness while adhering to graphics style guides. Preparing highlights for updates and shows will be a regular duty, and you must be prepared to fulfil all Hockey department Associate Producer roles, including feature storytelling, tease producing, ISO directing, font coordinating, and even producing regional NHL updates when applicable. This production role demands strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, bringing creative and innovative ideas to our shows. Candidates must be able to work various shifts, including weekends and evenings. A minimum of 2-3 years of experience writing for broadcast is required, alongside exemplary hockey knowledge and strong knowledge of technical equipment used in production. A minimum of 3 years of television sports production experience and a graduate of a broadcasting or journalism program or equivalent experience are essential. A pre-employment background check, including a Canadian criminal record check, will be conducted to protect our people and brand.
