Role Overview

The Department of Immunology in the Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto invites applications for a full-time teaching stream position focused on Immunology and graduate education development. This appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream, with an anticipated start date of January 1, 2027. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background and proven capabilities in academic instruction and program leadership.

• Earned a PhD degree in Immunology by the time of appointment.
• Demonstrated record of excellence in teaching and mentorship, particularly in graduate education.
• Teaching interests that complement and enhance existing departmental strengths.
• Teaching experience in teaching and administration/management in a degree-granting program, including lecture preparation and delivery, program design, curriculum development, and development of material/lectures at the graduate level.
• Demonstrated commitment to excellent pedagogical inquiry.
• Demonstrated interest in graduate education teaching-related scholarly activities and focus on student academic progress and well-being.

Evidence of excellence in teaching and a commitment to excellent pedagogical inquiry will be demonstrated through teaching accomplishments, awards and accolades, presentations at significant conferences, a comprehensive teaching dossier (including required materials), and strong letters of reference.

Key Duties

The successful candidate will be assigned a balanced teaching and service load, contributing significantly to the academic life and development of the department. This faculty position involves direct engagement with students and administrative responsibilities vital to our graduate programs.

• Overseeing the Admissions and Awards committees.
• Developing and implementing effective processes to support admissions and awards operations.
• Integrating disciplinary expertise with best practices in teaching to create inclusive, engaging, and research-informed learning environments.
• Supporting student success and inspiring the next generation of immunologists.
• Contributing to the academic life of the department through service activities such as academic advising.
• Participating in program development.
• Engaging in departmental initiatives.
