Position Summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Department of Political Science within the Faculty of Arts and Science at the University of Toronto. We are inviting applications for a full-time tenure stream Assistant Professor specializing in American Politics, with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2027. Skills and Experience

Candidates must meet the following qualifications:

• Earned a PhD degree in Political Science or a related discipline by the time of appointment, or shortly thereafter.
• Demonstrated record of excellence in research and teaching.
• Focus on democracy in the United States and ability to conduct empirical research on American institutions or behaviour.

Evidence of research excellence can be demonstrated through:

• A record of publications in top-ranked and field-relevant journals or forthcoming publications meeting high international standards.
• Presentations at significant conferences.
• The submitted research statement.
• Awards and accolades.
• Strong endorsements from referees of high standing.

Evidence of excellence in teaching will be provided through:

• Teaching accomplishments.
• A teaching dossier (with required materials outlined in the application process).

The expected salary range is $120,000 to $160,000 CAD per annum, depending on experience. Negotiations beyond this salary range will be considered for exceptionally qualified candidates.
