About the Opportunity
J.D. Irving, Limited is seeking an experienced Asset and Maintenance Manager to lead our asset management strategy and drive operational excellence in Saint John, New Brunswick. This pivotal role requires a professional with deep industry knowledge, robust leadership experience, and a passion for optimising asset performance. You will be instrumental in shaping and executing our asset management strategy, overseeing the full lifecycle of our fleet assets, and fostering operational excellence through data-driven decision-making and effective team leadership.

Key Responsibilities
As the Asset and Maintenance Manager, you will develop and implement a comprehensive asset management strategy that aligns with our company goals. You will lead and mentor a high-performing team, cultivating a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement. Your responsibilities include building and managing the annual maintenance and capital budgets, with a focus on identifying opportunities for cost optimisation. You will oversee the entire asset lifecycle, from acquisition and onboarding to disposal and lease-to-own transitions. Defining and reporting on key performance indicators will be crucial for timely and informed decision-making. Furthermore, you will manage relationships with third-party maintenance providers, vendors, and internal stakeholders to ensure optimal asset utilisation. Ensuring all maintenance activities meet internal standards and regulatory requirements is paramount. Finally, you will lead trailer rebuild and asset life extension programmes, actively identifying new technologies or practices that can enhance overall asset performance.
What You'll Bring
To succeed in this role, you will possess a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Commerce, or a related field. You will bring a minimum of ten years of experience in asset management, including at least five years in a leadership position. A minimum of two years of experience within the trucking or transportation industry is also required. Candidates must demonstrate a strong understanding of safety regulations and industry best practices. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is essential, and experience with TMT software is considered an asset. You should have a proven ability to effectively lead teams, manage budgets, and drive significant operational improvements. Strong analytical and communication skills, coupled with a track record of data-informed decision-making, are vital. Bilingualism in French is considered an asset but is not a mandatory requirement for this position.
