Position Summary

The Departments of Medical Imaging at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre (SHSC) and the University of Toronto are actively recruiting a full-time Abdominal Radiologist. This is a unique opportunity for a dedicated professional to secure a clinical academic appointment at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant Professor at the prestigious University of Toronto. This role is integral to a busy clinical and academic Abdominal Imaging practice within one of Canada's leading health sciences centres.

Sunnybrook, a fully affiliated teaching hospital of the University of Toronto, is home to advanced medical imaging technology, including new MRI, CT, PET/CT, and US systems, alongside dedicated research imaging facilities. The successful candidate will contribute to a dynamic environment focused on patient care, research, and education in Toronto.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be deeply involved in both the clinical and academic activities of the Division of Abdominal Imaging at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, University of Toronto. This includes a comprehensive range of diagnostic and interventional imaging duties, alongside significant opportunities for academic radiology involvement.

  • Perform multi-modality diagnostic abdominal and pelvic imaging.
  • Conduct image-guided non-vascular interventional procedures, such as organ biopsies and drainage.
  • Provide sub-specialist expertise in Hepatopancreatobiliary, Gastrointestinal, Genitourinary, and/or Obstetric Imaging.
  • Participate actively in clinical research initiatives.
  • Contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate medical education.
  • Engage in out-of-hours call participation as an integral part of the role.

Requirements

Candidates for this Lecturer/Assistant Professor position must meet specific academic and clinical qualifications to ensure excellence in both patient care and scholarly contributions within the Department of Medical Imaging.

  • Hold an MD degree or equivalent.
  • Be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Diagnostic Imaging by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC), the American Board of Radiology, or an international equivalent.
  • Be eligible for medical licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO).
  • Possess mandatory Clinical Fellowship training in Abdominal Imaging.
  • Demonstrate imaging scholarship suitable for an academic appointment.

Compensation

Academic rank and salary for this clinical academic position will be determined based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience. Remuneration is expected to be in the range of $300,000 to $500,000, commensurate with the departmental compensation structure, considering academic rank, qualifications, and level of experience.
