About the Role

This is a 4-month co-op placement for Fall 2026 with Definity in Montreal, Quebec. This role offers a rewarding opportunity to gain real-life experience and contribute to strategic goals within a supportive team environment. Your creativity and energy will be valued as you develop a strong understanding of underwriting guidelines and processes. The hourly compensation for this role starts at $22.50 per hour and will increase based on factors including skills, education, experience, and recommended rates set by the respective educational institution.

Your Responsibilities

You will provide administrative and operational support throughout the underwriting process. This includes data entry, ordering reports, and maintaining policy information within internal systems. You will partner with colleagues across the Commercial Underwriting team to ensure tasks are completed accurately, efficiently, and in a timely manner. You will also support service level commitments by consistently meeting quality, accuracy, and productivity expectations, and assist with general administrative duties and contribute to ad hoc projects and team initiatives as required.

What You'll Bring

Candidates should possess strong computer skills, including typing proficiency and comfort navigating multiple systems. High attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and quality of work is essential. Effective verbal and written communication skills, along with a professional and collaborative approach, are required. Demonstrated initiative, reliability, and a willingness to learn and grow are also important. A high school diploma is required, and post-secondary education is considered an asset. Progress toward a Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation and previous experience in the insurance industry are also assets.
