Details

As the Term Lecturer for AUPSY 483 Psychological Disorders, the incumbent will be responsible for developing comprehensive lecture and seminar materials that align with the course's learning outcomes. A key aspect of this role involves encouraging students to critically examine both Western and non-Western concepts of mental health and mental illness. This includes a thoughtful consideration of diagnostic practices, such as the DSM-5-TR, alongside the distinct needs and perspectives on mental health from Indigenous communities, directly addressing the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's Calls to Action 21 and 22. Furthermore, responsibilities include preparing, administering, and diligently grading examinations and other advanced course assessments appropriate for a senior seminar. Maintaining regularly scheduled office hours to support student learning and address their inquiries is also a fundamental expectation for this position at the University of Alberta.

Candidates for this Sessional Term Lecturer position must possess a Master's degree in Psychology and be a Registered Psychologist in Canada, bringing valuable experience in diagnosis.
