Metrolinx is dedicated to connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe, operating essential services like GO Transit and UP Express while actively building new rapid transit infrastructure. This includes significant projects such as GO Expansion and major subway extensions, all aimed at enhancing mobility for residents. The organization is seeking a Senior Strategist to join its Strategy & Centres of Excellence Office. This pivotal role will provide critical support for the development and execution of enterprise transformation initiatives across Metrolinx. Responsibilities are broad, including the strategic development of both near- and medium-term strategies at enterprise and divisional levels. This position also plays a key part in ensuring overall organizational success through diligent business planning, strategic reporting, performance insights, and robust governance.
The Senior Strategist will drive the development of Metrolinx’s corporate strategy and transformation initiatives, translating them into integrated planning frameworks, from medium-term roadmaps to annual action plans. A key aspect of this role involves leading comprehensive industry research, best-practice analysis, benchmarking, and quantitative analysis to support strategy development and its effective implementation, synthesizing findings into actionable insights for the business. Furthermore, this role will lead strategic communication and change management efforts, crucial for embedding corporate strategy throughout the organization and inspiring collective action. The position will also distil performance insights by deeply understanding the business, ensuring actions align with strategy, and equipping leadership with the clarity needed for impactful decisions. This includes offering expert support to other Metrolinx teams on strategy development, implementation, strategic problem-solving, and business model design, including operating model design and other priority strategic topics.
Engaging with a diverse range of Metrolinx stakeholders is central to this role. The Senior Strategist will lead engagements, including workshops, to support the development of divisional and team strategic planning, business model design, and operating model design, establishing conditions for effective implementation. This includes leading internal and external consultations to support all aspects of the role, such as strategy development and divisional strategic support. The successful candidate will develop high-quality, fact-based reports and presentations suitable for executive audiences, delivering these presentations to influence key decisions. The ability to recommend optimal solutions for various business needs and to identify areas for improvement or efficiency is paramount in this strategic leadership position.
