The Capital Projects Group (CPG) at Metrolinx is seeking a dedicated professional for a Senior Manager, Project Delivery position within the Capital Delivery department, specifically in the GO/UP division. This critical role involves managing a team of staff and service providers to oversee the planning, design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover phases of significant capital railway transit infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will be instrumental in developing robust project delivery strategies, providing comprehensive administrative and technical leadership for a capital programme comprising major, complex infrastructure projects. This ensures consistency, coordination, and the successful completion of the entire programme. Responsibilities also include planning, setting objectives, and controlling activities across all project phases, working closely with assigned project team members in a hybrid-matrix environment. Furthermore, this role contributes to the development of proposal estimates, reviews and approves all plans, schedules, and tendering documents to optimise project coordination within the programme, and critically reviews consultant proposals and contractor submittals to develop recommendations consistent with strategic business objectives. This leadership position is crucial for the efficient and effective delivery of vital transit projects.
Candidates for this Senior Manager, Project Delivery role should possess a degree in Engineering, Architecture, Business, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and extensive experience. Demonstrated progressive experience in engineering and/or project management services is essential, particularly in the planning, design, and implementation of complex projects. Prior experience in the delivery of transit infrastructure, including structures, bridges, tunnels, and civil works, is considered a significant asset. Strong project management skills are paramount, encompassing expertise in budget and schedule controls, leading cross-functional teams and consultants, and meticulous monitoring of project activities for adherence to schedule, budget, and scope. The ideal candidate will exhibit strong leadership abilities to coach, mentor, and manage a team of technical project professionals. Furthermore, excellent problem-solving and analytical skills are required to evaluate and address contractor and supplier performance issues, recommending effective improvement plans. Superior interpersonal, oral, written, and presentation skills are necessary for effective liaison across all organizational levels and on construction sites, ensuring successful project execution and communication.
