About the Role
Definity is seeking a Senior Representative, Subrogation to join our team in Montreal, Québec. In this role, you will report to the National Subrogation Unit Team Leader and be responsible for investigating and negotiating the recovery of funds owed to Definity from responsible third parties. This position handles personal and commercial property and auto losses from claims offices across Canada, requiring strong customer focus, communication, organisation, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
Key Responsibilities
Your key responsibilities will include reviewing and analysing claims to determine subrogation potential and probable recovery outcomes. You will identify and pursue all responsible parties, preparing necessary files and documents to determine recovery amounts. This role involves contacting third parties, their insurers, or lawyers to initiate settlement negotiations and managing subrogation-related litigation matters across Canada, including file strategy and budget. You will participate in legal proceedings when required, manage a large volume of claims files and other subrogation projects, and enhance subrogation awareness by supporting claims partners across Canada.
What You'll Bring
To succeed in this role, you must possess an AMF Personal insurance licence (5b) and a Commercial insurance licence (5a). Bilingualism in both written and spoken English and French is essential, with a high degree of English proficiency required to service customers across Canada. You will need at least five years of claims handling experience, including subrogation, negotiation, and litigation. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is expected. Strong written and verbal communication skills, professionalism, and courtesy in all interactions are crucial. A university degree, a two-year college diploma, or working towards your CIP designation would be considered an asset. The ability to work independently and make quick decisions when necessary is also important.
