As a Senior Application Engineer, your expertise will be instrumental in guiding team decisions, shaping product capabilities, and defining software architecture. You will collaborate with a team of experienced software engineers who are passionate about proactively improving existing systems and ensuring long-term operational stability. This role offers the flexibility of hybrid or remote work, with a commitment to Pacific time zone hours, and is based out of Arc'teryx headquarters in North Vancouver, BC. The Guest Services Technology team focuses on developing and supporting tools that enable seamless and engaging experiences for guests interacting with the brand, designing and deploying new features to enhance performance and provide consistent support.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
In this Senior Application Engineer role, you will be deeply involved in the Salesforce ecosystem, leading and contributing to the evolution of our cloud-based solutions. Your daily activities will span technical leadership, hands-on development, and collaborative problem-solving, ensuring robust and scalable features.
- Owning and leading a medium-sized product domain within the Service Cloud platform, leveraging either out-of-the-box Salesforce configurations and/or custom development using programmatic design options.
- Being a subject matter expert of your specific product business domain.
- Holding a deep understanding of systems, enabling you to debug them effectively and efficiently without significant difficulty.
- Demonstrating at least one major skill outside of programming such as DevOps, Performance Optimisation or Monitoring.
- Participating extensively in code reviews, and mentoring others via code reviews and pair programming.
- Contributing to the common code bases and defining standards for the team.
- Being responsible for presentation at team meetings with the purpose of knowledge sharing and raising the technical bar.
- Owning technical design for projects of moderate complexity and understanding the trade-offs in creating good solutions in their area.
- Requiring very little oversight beyond high-level direction; able to take a complex user story, break it down into sub-tasks, and complete sub-tasks with relative ease.
- Showing initiative beyond knocking tasks off a list; identifying and suggesting areas of future work for yourself or your team.
- Seeking evidence to support your ideas and starting to build cases for these ideas.
- Working effectively with non-tech members of your area, identifying problems with requirements and helping the team course-correct around these issues.
Looking ahead, your contributions will also shape the future of our platform, incorporating emerging technologies and driving continuous improvement in our Salesforce solutions.
- Leading and contributing to ongoing platform oversight by conducting security assessments, reviewing Salesforce release updates.
- Developing detailed technical documentation for current system components and leading initiatives to refactor and optimise areas of the product domain for improved performance and maintainability.
- Owning technical design for projects of moderate complexity and understanding the trade-offs in creating good solutions in their area.
- Building highly complex features that integrate with external systems or managed packages, while driving greater team velocity and efficiency.
- Playing a key role to foster a sense of modularity and code reuse where applicable, and mentoring junior team members to contribute effectively to the shared repository.
- Designing long-term solutions that align with emerging AI trends leveraging AI frameworks such as Agentforce.
