This position is ideal for a passionate designer looking for jobs in North Vancouver who thrives in collaborative settings and is eager to contribute to the development of exceptional women's product lines.
What You'll Do
In this dynamic design role, you will be instrumental in the creation and development of Veilance women's products. Your responsibilities will include both core design activities and contributing to future strategic initiatives:
- Creating and executing assigned product designs alongside your senior leaders that are future oriented and user-centric.
- Helping to define the current and future global guest, their needs and expectations through building mood boards, and visualizing consumer journeys and market analysis.
- Contributing to the commercialisation of innovative technologies, including materials, pattern, and construction techniques for existing and new product categories.
- Creating patterns, mock ups, and prototypes to explore, resolve, or prove new concepts or construction techniques.
- Providing detailed product initiations to the Product Development team, including spec drawings, pattern and fit directions, and material information.
- Collaborating with the Fit & Pattern team to resolve fit style and construction issues, and ensure a fully commercialised product.
- Coordinating with the Materials team to test new materials and ensure that necessary items are available for prototyping.
- Developing and maintaining a thorough understanding of the materials and manufacturing techniques that Veilance works with.
- Collaborating closely with other Designers to bring new and better toolbox solutions that benefit the brand (such as new technologies, construction techniques, features, etc.).
- Staying up to date with industry trends.
- Assisting with current product design changes where necessary, in order to address in-line production issues.
- Supporting the Design Director/Senior Designers in developing a schedule for the flow of the line plan through all development stages, including charting line plan progress.
- Partnering with the Development and Merchandising teams on concepting and prototyping for seasonal products to gain visibility into cost estimates, MOQs and LOM concerns.
- Presenting at internal meetings, design reviews and seasonal stage gates, annual seasonal handoffs and other product meetings as required.
- Attending trade shows, company events as well as sourcing and development vendor visits as required.
Looking ahead, you will also contribute to the long-term strategic plan for women’s apparel at Veilance, collaborate with various design activity leaders to identify new product opportunities, and work closely with our Development teams and innovation partnerships to challenge and evolve how innovative ideas are brought to production.
