Cineplex is seeking a dedicated Seasonal Server for The Rec Room Square One in Mississauga, Ontario. This role is crucial for delivering exceptional guest service within our restaurant environment. You will be responsible for ensuring patrons have an enjoyable dining experience through prompt service and a strong knowledge of our menu offerings. This position plays a key part in maintaining our high standards of hospitality and operational efficiency.

As a Server, you will provide professional and courteous service, contributing to a positive atmosphere for all guests. You will also assist with various restaurant duties to ensure smooth daily operations.

Key Responsibilities

You will accurately take food and beverage orders from guests, ensuring these are communicated to the appropriate kitchen or bar staff for execution. Maintaining familiarity with all menu items, including bar selections, is essential. Serving food and beverages will be done in accordance with company standards, always with a professional and courteous approach.

Responsibilities also include cleaning designated areas according to company procedures, following opening and closing routines, and adhering to hygiene requirements. You will change table linen as needed, ensuring only clean and undamaged items are used. Cleaning and refilling condiment sets, as well as ensuring table decorations are clean and compliant with company standards, are also part of your duties.

Setting tables to company policy requires ensuring all items are clean, undamaged, and in good repair. You will ensure storerooms are adequately stocked with replacement cutlery, linen, or other necessary supplies. Cleaning tables promptly after guests have finished their meals, while allowing them to enjoy their experience, is expected. You will correctly charge guests, present bills, and process payments according to established procedures.

Attending to guest complaints satisfactorily and being continually aware of and practising excellent guest service are also key. You may also participate in fire or evacuation drills and carry out on-the-job training for subordinate staff. Maintaining the highest standards of personal hygiene and dress, as well as ensuring any subordinate staff do the same, is mandatory. Following all Health, Food Safe, and Liquor service guidelines is critical.

What You'll Bring

Candidates must possess a high school diploma or GED. Strong service experience with a passion for engaging guests is required, and 1-3 years of restaurant service experience is considered a valuable asset. You should be highly flexible with solid interpersonal skills, enabling effective work in a diverse environment. The ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing is essential.

This role requires someone who can work well under pressure and demonstrates strong attention to detail. You must be able to interact with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times. A professional appearance and manners, coupled with a strong work ethic and positive team attitude, are expected. A provincially applicable certificate for the sale and handling of alcohol is also a mandatory qualification.

Compensation and Work Environment

The hourly wage for this position ranges from $17.60 to $18.60 CAD. This role requires manual dexterity for using a desktop computer and peripherals. Overtime may be required as business needs dictate. You will be expected to stand and walk for extended periods. The ability to lift or move up to 20lbs may also be required.
