Position Summary
The Division of Medical Oncology and Hematology (DMOH) at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre is Canada's most extensive program and among North America's largest. This robust medical program supports extensive clinical, translational, and basic research initiatives, including a comprehensive clinical trials program. Additionally, the DMOH endorses a comprehensive training program, attracting both national and international fellows to the UHN.
The Receptionist, Medical Oncology and Hematology, plays a key role within this dynamic division. The main function of this position is to act as a vital resource for patients, support staff, and providers, ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the office.
Day-to-day Responsibilities
- Manage physician schedules with the hospital locating system.
- Manage the main phone line for the division and triage calls as needed.
- Assist with mail and fax sorting.
- Act as a timekeeper for support staff for payroll purposes.
- Monitor and order office supplies and equipment as needed.
Requirements
- Completion of Secondary School or recognized equivalent.
- Completion of a recognized post-secondary office/medical administration program at the certificate level or equivalent is an asset.
- One (1) year related support experience.
- Experience working with EPIC EMR is preferred.
- Previous on-the-job computer/word-processing experience in a Microsoft Office environment is preferred.
- Experience working in a health care environment is an asset.
- Fluency in a second language is considered an asset (e.g., French).
- Knowledge of medical terminology is an asset.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Able to operate effectively in an interdisciplinary team.
