The Opportunity
Join Scotiabank as a Director, Quality Engineering in Toronto, where you will lead a global team within Commercial & Business Banking Engineering. This pivotal role involves managing the relationship between engineering and ScotiaTech, ensuring that business strategies, quality assurance plans, and initiatives are executed in compliance with governing regulations and internal policies. Responsibilities
- Enable quality engineering through innovative solutions that are sustainable, flexible, reliable, and scalable to continually meet the growing global footprint.
- Build strong relationships with business partners, technology partners, stakeholders, 3rd party vendors and their teams, to facilitate collaboration.
- Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout the team to deepen business partner’s relationships and knowledge.
- Responsible for owning the Quality Engineering strategy, roadmaps, standards, and policies and influencing product quality at scale.
- Drive adoption of AI-powered testing, cloud-based device farms, and next-gen automation frameworks.
- Lead the implementation of transformative technology initiatives to enable success through increased efficiency, reduced cost, faster time to market.
- Identify and prioritize opportunities to leverage platform capabilities effectively, deliver future proof technology solutions and take a leading role in initiatives to drive innovation and digital transformation throughout the Bank.
- Provide finance with the data to support and maintenance budgets and business cases.
- Participate in the process to establish, communicate, and manage objectives, strategies and plans for the Testing area of UAT, ensuring quality principles are adhered to in a ‘speed-to-market’ culture.
- Review planned activities for future initiatives, participate in forward-planning sessions and identify/ resolve conflicts between initiatives.
- Approve test evaluations, review code implementation strategies and authorize recommendations for promotion of code to the Production environment to ensure the highest quality of service in the delivery of Branch initiatives.
- Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
- Creates an environment in which their team pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
- Builds a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviors; communicating vison/values/business strategy; and managing succession and development planning for the team.
Requirements
- Strong communication skills with a proven ability to understand key business and technical concepts, and then effectively communicate these concepts with technical staff, business stakeholders and senior management.
- Strong organizational skills, the ability to perform under pressure and to manage multiple priorities with competing demands for resources.
- Strong analytical, finance & accounting, data processing and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in a leadership role with application development, technical architecture, data, or delivery focus.
- Experience managing operating budgets and project budgets.
- Strong project management skills, able to multi-task and manage concurrent projects.
- Experience with vendor product assessment & selection, vendor management & negotiating contractual terms.
- Proven ability to deliver platforms and capabilities and managing solutions through the lifecycle.
- Significant experience leading complex solution implementations and team sizes ranging from 50 to 100 resources.
