As a Principal Engineer within the Velocity team at TD Securities, you will play a pivotal role in revolutionizing how data is consumed and managed. This position offers high exposure, requiring you to draw on your extensive technical development experience to ensure the stability and value delivery of the data platform to its tenants. You will have autonomy in your work, directly guiding a small team of solution engineers through various data platform challenges, providing technical guidance and creative workarounds for temporary limitations. This role is central to driving change with speed and precision, focusing on designing and operating a robust Data Platform from ingestion to consumption. Your responsibilities extend to monitoring health and user FinOps statistics, cost optimization, and ensuring customer satisfaction. You will also analyse all platform-level changes, monitor application impact, and provide appropriate technical solutions to resolve issues quickly and efficiently, contributing to a world-class, diverse, and inclusive technology team.
The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise in cloud-native infrastructure management, full-stack software development, and specific platforms such as AKS and Azure. Expert-level proficiency in one or more programming languages, including Java, Python, JavaScript, or Scala, is essential. Candidates should have substantial experience operating in a cloud environment, with a strong understanding of Azure Cloud Knowledge, including Azure Data Lake, Managed Identities, and Service Principals. Experience with CI/CD or DevOps practices working with Azure, Databricks, Terraform, and Kubernetes is also a core requirement.
Beyond specific technologies, this role demands the ability to lead complex projects and manage competing priorities with a high level of technical acumen and strong communication skills. You will be instrumental in designing and implementing process components to enable TD Azure functionalities, such as Unity Catalog and Azure Purview. The position also requires creating architectural diagrams with a focus on networking and system design, leveraging PaaS offerings from Azure, GCP, or Databricks. A minimum of eight years of relevant experience is expected, demonstrating a proven track record in similar technical leadership roles.
