As a Technical Specialist, Cogito Reporting at University Health Network (UHN) in Toronto, you will play a pivotal role in advancing healthcare data analytics. This position involves working closely with various stakeholders, including BI Analysts, Data Engineers, and clinical teams, to understand and analyze complex Cogito reporting content requirements. Your primary responsibility will be to build Epic’s Cogito reporting content using SQL, leveraging Epic’s Clarity and Caboodle databases. A significant aspect of this role includes the development, testing, and validation of AI and cognitive computing models integrated into Epic reporting content, enhancing the predictive and analytical capabilities of the system.
You will lead complex Epic Cogito projects on the Data & Analytics roadmap, developing custom Cogito SlicerDicer filters and sessions, and building Cogito Reporting Workbench rules and custom radar dashboards. The ability to translate end-user workflow-based report requests into specific data points for development is crucial. Furthermore, you will be responsible for all Cogito reporting content across Proof of Concept, Testing, and Production environments, ensuring validity, accuracy, and completeness through peer reviews. This includes reviewing Epic upgrade documentation, maintaining the Epic Analytics Catalog, and designing enterprise-wide reporting security policies. Your expertise will also extend to resolving Epic reporting content and user access issues, providing training, and developing alternative reporting solutions when necessary, all contributing to UHN's robust data infrastructure.
To excel in this Technical Specialist role, candidates should possess an undergraduate degree in Health Informatics, Computer Science, Epidemiology, Industrial Engineering, Business Analytics, or an equivalent field, with a Master’s degree being preferred. A minimum of five years of experience in building, developing, testing, and deploying Business Intelligence and Data Analytics reporting tools is essential. In-depth knowledge of UHN’s system build, end-user workflows, and patterns of use is strongly preferred, alongside familiarity with clinical and business workflows and data within a Canadian healthcare setting. Knowledge of Ontario healthcare clinical and financial reporting requirements is also required.
Proficiency with SQL and relational database concepts is fundamental, coupled with demonstrated experience using various analytics tools. Experience working with the Epic EMR system and familiarity with its application and database structure are critical. Candidates must demonstrate a strong ability to understand complex data structures, lead requirements gathering sessions, and translate user needs into effective solutions. Critical thinking, an analytical mind, and strong communication skills are vital for analyzing data, problem-solving, and clearly communicating solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
