If a fast-paced, multi-platform newsroom seems like your ideal environment, then Rogers wants you to join our team. You will collaborate with our talented team of journalists to find the most compelling stories and build and read newscasts or traffic reports on weekends and overnights. Your work will involve telling those stories effectively on multiple platforms, with a special emphasis on audio storytelling and writing, alongside field reporting when required. You will contribute original story ideas, leading to riveting content that you produce yourself, supporting teammates in the editorial process from pitch to publish. The goal is to deliver stories that stand out from the competition, focusing on audio formats while also contributing to digital and TV programming. We believe in empowering our people to bring their whole selves to work, fostering an environment where every voice is heard.

What You'll Bring to Our News Team

A developed sense of what kinds of stories Toronto wants and needs to hear is crucial, with particular attention to our diverse communities. Knowledge of the roads and bridges in Toronto is also important for accurate reporting. We are looking for people with excellent teamwork skills and an amazing attitude towards work and team collaboration. Curiosity and a desire to push beyond the surface of news stories, challenging the status quo, are highly valued.

You should possess an understanding of the needs of a 21st-century, multi-platform newsroom. A willingness to put the team first and an ability to work in service of a larger goal are essential. News moves fast, so you must be able to multi-task and deliver for multiple, daily online and broadcast deadlines. Because news never stops, a willingness to work weekends, evenings, and overnights is a key requirement for this anchor role. A pre-employment background check, including a Canadian criminal record check, will be conducted to protect our people, brand, and assets. We believe in supporting our people and ensuring they have what they need to be at their best.
